Grouping

Is it true that the system tries to group you so that you stay around the 50% win margin? ie, if I'm winning 75% of the time it is going to group me with losers who win 25% of the time?

Yes, it does that. That is essentially how most matchmaking systems work.

Should you do incredibly well, be prepared to be grouped with a bunch of dumbasses! That is why they need voice to work so we can direct the battle :(

Usually, MatchMaking systems try to pit you with and against player of similar skill. But anecdotally I feel that I get paired with lower-skilled players (which I assume is an attempt to even out the teams).

GA uses modified TrueSkill.

well, really, that just puts me off completely. I have a hard enough time controlling my rage when grouped with bad players randomly. But to have it happen deliberately is pretty fucking disgusting.

Hooray for our TF2 server where this is not an issue.

It is really only a problem at the beginning levels, since you are more likely to be grouped with people that are new to the game. Also, the other team will have the same thing, so it is not like everyone on the other team is a well oiled machine.

As levels progress, almost everyone eventually picks up the "I need to attack this node" mindset.

What would be the alternative? Just picking the levels of people, and mixing and matching based off of that? You would have significantly more lopsided matches that way.

Yes, but being burned out on TF2 is a whole different problem.
